CHO-OYU EXPEDITION

Known as the sixth highest mountain on earth above sea level, Cho-oyu is considered one of the easier eight thousand meter peaks and a great introductory climb to beginners looking to step into the climbing world. It stands between the border of Tibet and Nepal, twenty kilometer west of Mount Everest.

The word Cho-oyu means “Tourquise Goddess” in Tibetan. The mountain was first climbed on October 19th 1954 via the Northwest ridge by members of an Austrian expedition, Herbert Tichy, Joseph Jochler and Pasang Dawa Sherpa Lama. Cho-oyu is the second most climbed eight-thousander after Everest. Making it a perfect gateway into the Himalayan expedition and a great preparation for Everest. From the summit of Cho-oyu, climbers will have a view of Everest, Lhotshe, Shishapangma, Nuptshe, Pumori, Amadablam and many of the Himalayan peaks.

Our expedition will be led by lakpa Rita and his teammate who have made several summits to Mt.Everest and Cho Oyu. Khangri Experience will provide a one to one guide to climber ratio and supplemental oxygen for the summit day to enhance the success of the expedition.
