The word “Khangri” translates directly to mountains in the Sherpa language. Experience the beauty of the Khangri (mountains) and the culture of the Sherpa people deeply embedded in the Himalayas, first hand guided by the expertise of the world-renowned mountaineering guide, Lakpa Rita Sherpa.

Born in the remote village of Thame, ever since he could remember, Lakpa had a fascination for climbing. He embarked on his first climb to Everest at the age of 18 and hasn’t looked back since. With the record of being the first Nepali to climb the Seven Summits and over 17 summits to the top of Everest, Lakpa had always dreamed of opening his own company to help others realize their dream of experiencing the beauty of the Himalayas. Through his years working as a guide, Lakpa has guided trips all around the world including climbs in Antarctica, South Africa, North America, South America, Asia, and Europe. In 2022, Lakpa founded Khangri Experience, to bring his dream to life. We hope you join us  on this new adventure.

Born in a family of 8 kids, and brother of Lakpa Rita, Kami Rita also started his mountaineering career at a very young age. Kami scaled his first summit on Mt. Everest in 1994. He now holds the record for most summits on Everest. On May 21, 2019 he broke the world record for climbing Everest for the 24th time, which was done only six days after his 23rd summit. Then in 2021 and 2022, he broke his own record by summiting for the 25th, then 26th time. This year he scaled Everest again, twice within 6 days (May 17th and 23rd) and now holds the record of 28 summits. He hopes to continue his record-breaking summits for another decade.

Kami Rita currently holds the record for most 8,000 meter summits, with 41 total summits. Aside from his records on Everest, Kami has also scaled K2, arguably the most dangerous mountain in the world, Manaslu 4 times, Lhotse once, and Cho-oyu eight times.
