MOUNT RAINIER DC ROUTE
Mount Rainier, standing at 14,411 feet (4,392 meters) above sea level, is the highest peak in the state of Washington, USA. It is an active stratovolcano and is considered one of the most prominent mountains in the contiguous United States. Located in Mount Rainier National Park, it is an iconic landmark of the Pacific Northwest.
The mountain offers a range of outdoor activities, including hiking, climbing, and skiing, attracting adventurers and nature enthusiasts from around the world. Mount Rainier is renowned for its glaciers, which cover more than 35 square miles (91 square kilometers) of its slopes, making it the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S. "We'll be leading a three-day climb on Mount Rainier via the renowned Muir/DC route, which is the most popular ascent on the mountain.
Guide to climber ratio: 2 climber to 1 Guide (total of 4 climbers and 2 guide)
Anyone with a good level of fitness and some prior backpacking or hiking experience is welcome to join this climb. It's even more advantageous if you've undergone specific training for this type of activity or have previously climbed Mount Baker or Mount Adams. If you don’t have prior mountaineering experience, we strongly recommend our one-day mountaineering class.
Participants should be able to carry a backpack weighing 40 to 45 pounds. should be capable of carrying a 40 to 45 lb backpack.
