ISLAND PEAK EXPEDITION

Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse, is a popular climbing destination located in the Everest region Himalayas of Nepal. With an elevation of 20,305 feet (6,189 meters), it is considered suitable for climbers with intermediate skills or those who have advanced beginner experience. The mountain stands out due to its distinct appearance, resembling an island of ice surrounded by towering peaks.

To reach Island Peak, climbers typically follow the Everest Base Camp trek route, which is a well-established and popular trail. The journey begins from Lukla, a town in the Khumbu region, and takes approximately 7to 8 days to reach the base camp of Island Peak. Along the way, trekkers pass through the picturesque Khumbu valleys, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.during the trek, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the largest monasteries in the Khumbu region, immersing yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the area. Additionally, you will have the chance to summit chukung Ri a peak standing at 18,196 feet (5,546 meters).

ITINERARY

  • After your arrival at the Kathmandu Airport. We will pick you up and get checked in at the Yak and Yeti Hotel located at the center of Kathmandu. in the evening you will have gears check and orientation

  • After breakfast we will visit various famous landmarks. These landmarks include: buddhist stupa Swayambhunath (monkey Temple), Boudhanath, and Hindu Temple and cremation center Pasupatui Nath. after lunch last minute shopping and welcome diner

  • We will wake up early in the morning and fly to Lukla by using the Twin Otter Airplane. At Lukla, we will meet our sherpas, staff, and porters and begin our trek to Island Peak. Then we will begin our trek to Phakding, a relatively easy hike that will take 3 to 5 hours.

  • From Phakding, we will begin our hike along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing a couple of high expansion bridges, gaining 2,723 ft elevation to Namche Bazaar, the trading center of Khumbu. This is where the Tibetan and Nepali traders exchange their goods on every Saturday market. It is also the gateway to the Himalayas and is highly known for the wonderful views that it provides.

  • From Namche, we will trek to Thame. An easy 3 hours trek to some of the most famous Sherpa climbers' hometown in the world. Such climbers include: Tenzing Norgey, the first person to climb Everest, Ang Rita sherpa, known as snow leopard, that has summited Everest 10 time without supplement of O2, Apa Sherpa, known as the super sherpa, the first person to climb Everest 21 times, Kami Rita, known as the everest man, who climbed everest 26 times and finally Lakpa Rita sherpa, the first Sherpa/Nepali to climb the highest peak of every continent.

  • we will be hiking above Thami Monastery toward Sumdur peak trying to gain up to 3,000 ft. to Sumdur ri 15,250 ft. from here we will have stunning view of Amadablam, khangtega,thamserku,Kongde, Thangkhamuche,Tangirikitwu, phapcharmu, chou you and many others surrounding peak. 6 hours round trip

  • From Thame, we will hike back towards Namche for 2.5 hours and take the upper trail to Khumjung which is the home of Edmund Hillary school that was built in 1961 by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Himalayan trust.

  • From Khumjung we will descend to Phungi Thanga, crossing Dudh Koshi River and then ascend to Tengboche (12,683 ft./3,865 m), through the rhododendron forest and continue to Pangboche. This will take around 5 to 6 hours.

  • From Pangboche, the vegetation will change to a high alpine zone. We will be trekking along the left side of Dudh Kosi river. It is a pretty easy hike, about 2.5 to 3 hours to Dingboche.

  • From Pangboche, we will head to Chukung, a 2.5 hours trek. Here we will review mountaineering skills.

  • Rest and acclimatization day. We will hike above Chukung and try to Gain 2,000ft. From there we will have a great view of Lotshe, Island Peak, Tabuche, cholatshe, Lobuje Peak, Amadablam, Baruntse, and Makalu.

  • Trek along the right side of Nuptshe glacer for 3 to 4 hours we will arrive at Island peak bace camp We will have an early dinner and get prepared for the summit.

  • We will wake up around midnight and start ascending around 1:00 am. This should take about 5-6 hours to summit and back to base camp. We will then rest for an hour and continue to Chukung.

  • we will be hiking down to Dingboche abut 2 hours than fly back to Kathmandu by helicopter

    Deposit:

    • Island Peak: A deposit of US$1,000 is payable to secure a place on the expedition.

    • Each deposit includes a US$500.00 nonrefundable registration fee.

    Balance:

    • Island Peak: The balance of US$5,500 is due June 6, 2023.

    • Remaining balance that are not received within the 121 day deadline, risk forfeiture of their place and registration fee on the expedition.

    All payments are due 121 days before the departure

  • Ama-Dablam Refund Policy:

    • Please note that the deposit is non-refundable. This is highly due to heavy costs that we must bear for our clients before their arrival in Nepal. This includes government permits, operator permits, food and gear that must be bought in advance and shipped to base camp for a successful expedition.

    • There are also no refunds on expeditions that conclude without reaching or making progress towards the expedition objective. Such conditions include bad route conditions, bad-weather, or any other factor that is outside the control of Khangri Experience.

    • Our refund policy also protects other climbers that have dedicated their time and capital to the expedition.

    Trip Cancellation Insurance:

    • We highly advise our clients to take out trip cancellation insurance with your travel agent if you wish to be covered against cancellation due to personal or medical reasons.

    • This may be the only way to receive your non-refundable deposits.

    • Airport pick up and drop off during arrival and departure

    • Welcome and fear-well dinner in Kathmandu

    • 3-night accommodations in Kathmandu at Yak & Yeti Hotel, 2 nights before and 1 night after the expedition

    • Round-trip flight to Lukla

    • All group camp supplies, such as tents, stoves, etc.

    • All meals while trekking

    • All lodging while trekking
