GOKYO LAKES AND RENJO PASS TREK

The sparkling, pristine blue and green waters of the Gokyo Lakes are one of Nepal’s most memorable sights. They comprise of the highest freshwater lake system in the world, at around 15,400 to 16,400 ft. Out of the six main lakes, Gokyo lake is the biggest one and Gokyo town lies on the shore of the lake. 

The Gokyo Lakes trek is ideal for people who want to trek in the Everest region, but who want more variety of views and fewer crowds and fewer nights spent at high altitude.

Like most treks in the Everest region, the Gokyo Lake Renjo La Pass Trek begins with an unforgettable flight to Lukla. Then, you’ll make your way from one Sherpa village to another, enjoying the best hallmarks. You’ll spend a couple of night at the beautiful village of Thame, known for home town of world class famous mountaineers which include:Tenzing Norgey- first person to climb Everest

Ang Rita Sherpa- summitted Everest 10 times without supplement of O2, known as snow leopard

Apa Sherpa- summitted Everest 23 times, known as super Sherpa

Kami Rita Sherpa- Summiting Everest 26 times, known as Everest man

Lakpa Rita Sherpa- first Sherpa to summit highest peak of every countenance the Seven Summits

 We will also visit Lakpa Rita and Kami Rita’s home and meet their parents and get a glimpse of their lifestyle. Here, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit the ancient monastery of Thame and witness the spiritual side of the Everest region

After that, you’ll walk past several beautiful remote villages, including upper thami, chanaykpa, thrnga to lunden than over the Renjo la pass 17,685ft from there you will be enjoying the panoramic view of of Everest, Cho-oyu, Lotshe, Makalu,  Gazung khang and many other surrounding peaks. than to reach the pristine valley of Gokyo.After relishing the sight of the Gokyo Lakes, you’ll hike to the famous Gokyo Ri at 17,575 ft.

from here you will going over the chola pass 17,782ft to another valley (Everest valley) hike down through Pheriche, Pangboche, Tengboche. After that, you’ll head back to Namche Bazaar and then to Lukla. You’ll fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla to conclude your Gokyo Lake Renjo La Pass Trek.

ITINERARY

  • After your arrival at the Kathmandu Airport. We will pick you up and get checked in at the Yak and Yeti Hotel located at the center of Kathmandu. in the evening we will have gears check and orientation.

  • After breakfast we will visit various famous landmarks. These landmarks include: buddhist stupa Swayambhunath (monkey Temple), Boudhanath, and Hindu Temple and cremation center Pasupatui Nath. after lunch last minute shopping and welcome diner

  • We will wake up early in the morning and fly to Lukla by using the twin otter Airplane. At lukla, we will meet our sherpas, staff, and porters and begin our trek to Everest base camp. trek to Phakding or Monjo, a relatively easy hike that will take 3 to 4 hours. (8.2km 5.1miles)

  • From Phakding, we will begin our hike along the Dudh koshi river, crossing a couple of high suspension bridges, gaining 2,723ft elevation to Namche Bazaar, the trading center of Khumbu. This is where the Tibetan and Nepali traders exchange their goods on every Saturday market. It is also the gateway to the Himalayas and is highly known for the wonderful views that it provides. 5 to 6 hours (7.4km 4.6 miles)

  • From Namche, we will trek to Thame. An easy 4 hours trek to some of the most famous Sherpas climbers’ hometown in the world. Such climbers include: Tenzing Norgey, the first person to climb Everest, Ang Rita sherpa, known as snow leopard, that has summited Everest 10 time without supplement of O2, Apa Sherpa, known as the super sherpa, the first person to climb Everest 21 time, Kami Rita, known as the Everest man, who climbed Everest 28 times and finally lakpa Rita sherpa, the first Sherpa/Nepali to climb the highest peak of every continent. after lunch we will visit to the Thami monastery (oldest monastery in Khumbu )

    3 to 4 hours (8.8km 4.2 miles)

  • we will be hiking above Thami Monastery toward Sumdur peak trying to gain up to 2,500 ft. from Sumdur ri we will have stunning view of Amadablam, khangtega,thamserku,Kongde, Thangkhamuche,Tangirikitwu, phapcharmu, chou you and many others surrounding peak. 6 hours round trip

  • will be hiking toward Nangpa valley, used to be free trading route between tibet and Khumb, unfortutantly the pass is closed by chines few years ago. pretty easy and short hike to lungden 4hours

  • This is a long and challenging day crossing the Renjo Pass 17,536ft. It is important to be mindful of how the altitude is affecting you so as not to put yourself in any unnecessary risks. The trail goes up and down along sandy ridges and past frozen streams. Once you reach the pass, you will be treated to incredible views of all the surrounding mountains before heading down Gokyo lake

  • hike up Gokyo Ri (5360m). Climbing steeply up above Gokyo lake, the trail to Gokyo Ri (peak) is hard going, but when you reach the top, the views make you forget everything. From here you can enjoy views of all the surrounding mountains with Everest towering over them. Absolutely breath-taking, (once you’ve caught your breath!). You will return back to Gokyo for lunch,

  • today will be pretty short day. we will be crossing the Nozumba glacer than continue hike to Dagnag

  • We will be hiking up to Chola Pass. It will take about 4 hours and then descend to Dzonglha.

    6 to 7 hours

  • we’ll start our hike from here head toward Dhukla. from there you will continue on main trail to Everest base camp, passing through Fereche and Pangboche, following the Dhud Koshi river and crossing suspension bridge to Debuche climbing up hill thru beautiful rhododendron forest to Tengboch about 6 hours.

  • We will be decending to Phungi Thanga crossing the Dhud khoshi river and climb up to Sanasa then to Namche bazar

    5 hours

  • Another long day descending back down to Lukla following the Dudh Kosi river through the valley. The route goes down and up finishing at the end with a climb through the forest, past villages and finally reaching Lukla, where you can put your feet up!

    Deposit:

    • A non-refundable deposit of US$500.00 is payable to secure a place on the trek.

    Balance:

    • The balance of US$5,300.00 is payable in July 25, 2023.

    • Remaining balance that are not received with the 121 day deadline, risk forfeiture of their place and registration fee on the trek.

    All payments are due 121 days before the departure

  • Gokyo and Renjo Pass Trek Refund Policy:

    • Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable. This is highly due to heavy costs that we must bear for our clients before their arrival in Nepal.

    • Full refunds, less the registration fee ($500), will be provided for cancellations made 90 days before the expedition date.

    • Our refund policy also protects other trekkers that have dedicated their time and capital to the trek.

    Trip Cancellation Insurance:

    • We highly advise our clients to take out trip cancellation insurance. This helps you against any cancellation due to personal or medical reasons.

    • This may be the only way to receive your non-refundable deposits.

    • Accommodations at the Yak & Yeti hotel for two nights before and one nights after the trek
